Getting back to the basic fundamentals of good surfboard design can teach you a lot about the way you surf. A proper single fin shortboard will show you how to use your rail to set up a good bottom turn, and can teach you how to go into a smooth cutback once you've acquired speed to burn off. One of most important lessons you can hope to learn from these boards is to understand the nature of style and how it relates to everything else in the experience of surfing well.
