AK4

This fin template represents the reference standard for my raked four-fin quad set-ups. The larger single-foil lead fins provide plenty of drive and help keep the rail engaged, while the raked double-foil trailer allows for nice release off the top. Great for surfers who want drive without sacrificing maneuverability and responsiveness in hollower surf.

CQC

Invented by Rich Pavel in the mid-1980's as the next logical step in the evolution of the fish, the outline of the Canard Quad Cutaway (CQC) fin template follows that of its predecessor, the Twin Keel. The CQC has the same fin surface area and holding power as a Twin Keel, but with added release through the fin cluster. By taking the Twin Keel fin template, a low aspect-ratio fin, and dividing it up into two separate high aspect-ratio foils, you get a single-foil leading fin which gives you plenty of drive, and a double-foil trailer which provides a tremendous amount of stability through big powerful turns. This quad fin cluster allows for water flow channeled towards the tail to flow through the fin cluster, making the board much more forgiving backside. The result is an integrated fin set-up that allows for a more progressive and vertical approach to the blinding speed of the fish platform. The best choice for those transitioning from a traditional twin keel fish.

The double-wing quad fish is available with bamboo fins hand-foiled by Marlin Bacon, and marine-ply fins hand-foiled by Daniel Partch. For travel and experimentation I also offer all my fin templates in the Lokbox removable fin system.
