Lately, I've been working backwards to move forward, and everything I love about hulls has germinated from Greenough's revolutionary design theories. These arctails are an attempt to walk in the footsteps of those who wanted to make a stand-up version of Greenough's spoon and start carving for real.
These arctails are a little wider than my round-tail templates, and the width of the tail brings the curve from the wide-point to the tail closer to the curve of my fish template. The straighter rail gives these short boards a more parallel rail, resulting in more bite on the high line and the feeling of a longer board in a shorter and more manueverable pod.
The 2+1s have a little more bite and can carve a harder turn than the single fin version. Both are extremely fast and loose.
~ Tri-plane hull bottom contour.
~ Single fin or 2+1 fin set-ups.
~ Tapered basswood or red cedar stringers for flex and "variable rocker."
~ Available 5'8" to 6'3".
~ 100% hand-shaped
~ Yes, I used a trash-can lid for the tail template...
